Glenn Ivey's practice focuses on representing clients in white-collar criminal defense, general civil litigation, and on Capitol Hill, as well as conducting internal investigations. In his previous private practice experience with a prominent Washington, DC firm, Mr. Ivey handled legislative, regulatory and litigation matters for a broad range of clients.
Mr. Ivey's experience spans the legal, regulatory and legislative landscapes at the federal, state and local levels. In his 25 years of litigation experience on complex civil and contract cases, he has also provided legislative and regulatory counsel for a variety of clients in the technology, utilities and non-profit sectors. Over the course of his career, Mr. Ivey has prosecuted over 45 jury trials, and has had 15 appellate oral arguments and countless grand jury investigations.
He has also served as:
· Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia;
· Counsel, Senate Whitewater Committee;
· Chief Counsel, Office of the U.S. Senate Democratic Leader;
· Chairman, Maryland Public Service Commission;
· Counsel, Senate Banking Committee; and
· Senior Legislative Assistant, Congressman John Conyers (D-MI).
In his eight years as State's Attorney, Mr. Ivey led one of Maryland's top prosecutor's offices. He created an award-winning Economic Crimes Unit that became a national model for prosecuting mortgage fraud and other economic crimes. The office was cited by the U.S. Department of Justice for its approach to helping consumers and businesses identify solutions to financial fraud.
Activities
Mr. Ivey is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Maryland School of Law.
He is also co-founder of Project Safe Sunday, whose mission is to help bring attention to domestic violence occurring in our communities.
Mr Ivey is President of the Harvard Law School Association's Washington, DC Chapter.
