Diversity at Goulston & Storrs,
A Professional Corporation

We value diversity for the dynamic, vibrant spirit it brings to our organization and lives. We recognize that our own diversity helps us appreciate alternative points of view as we serve an increasingly diverse clientele. Over forty percent of our colleagues are women, people of color or openly gay. Diversity is not a long-range goal at Goulston & Storrs; it is our reality.

Women, racial and ethnic minorities, and gay and lesbian lawyers have served on virtually all committees within the firm. Our Diversity Committee meets regularly to address relevant issues regarding the firm's recruitment, retention, development and advancement of a diverse workforce.

While very proud of our progress in building diversity, we set our sights ever higher. The firm takes many steps to ensure that lawyers from diverse backgrounds receive excellent work, mentoring and training opportunities, and continually seeks to increase diversity awareness in the hiring process. In addition, we maintain an active speakers program to raise consciousness regarding the many ways that diversity enriches us personally and strengthens our organization.

Goulston & Storrs participates in a variety of minority outreach programs that foster diversity within the firm and enhance opportunities for diverse individuals within the communities we serve. Our efforts include:

  • Participation in minority job fairs sponsored by Harvard Law School and The Boston Lawyers Group.

  • Annual firm reception for all Boston-area first-year law school minority students, where we offer candid interviewing tips and advice to the students regarding law firm life.

  • Active and leading supporter of The Boston Lawyers Group, which was formed in the 80's in an effort to increase diversity in Boston's legal community. We participate in various group initiatives, including mentoring programs, mock interviews, workshops and other programs for law students of diverse backgrounds.

  • Welcoming students from North Cambridge Catholic High School to learn about law by working in various departments throughout the firm.

  • Member of The Partnership, an organization that promotes the development and retention of professionals of color, particularly African-Americans, in Boston.
