Greenberg Traurig provides services in many of the typical legal practice areas and a number of interdisciplinary practice areas. The firm’s ADA, Accessibility, Building & Life Safety Codes Practice offers clients a wealth of ADA-related capabilities and experience. Our team has assisted clients throughout the United States in matters ranging from permitting, design, waivers, accessibility and compliance to labor, safety and employment issues. Our attorneys’ range of public, private and legislative backgrounds enable them to alert clients to potential ADA and related accessibility issues, as well as respond immediately to job site and workplace safety issues. In addition, these attorneys have experience with state and federal Fair Housing Act (FHA) issues regarding protections for the disabled.

A number of attorneys in the practice provide counseling and litigation support on numerous laws and codes, including the ADA, FHA, Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS) and Rehabilitation Act. While our team focuses on Titles II and III of the ADA, we also offer guidance on how Titles I, II and III interrelate. In addition, we assist clients around the country with state and local building code compliance and preventative facility audits.

Our experience includes litigating cases brought under all of the accessibility codes, from cases concerning single facilities up to national class actions including 5,000 facilities and a purported class of 54 million. Members of our team, which includes architects and engineers, also regularly serve as expert witnesses. Additionally, we act as consultants – conducting pre-construction and pre-purchase audits to ensure that properties are compliant with the appropriate codes, thereby helping our clients to prevent future law suits.
