Biography

Background

Greg Tereposky is a partner at our Ottawa office. Greg was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 1992 and the Ontario Bar in 1996. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia in 1991.

Prior to that, he majored in finance and received a Bachelor of Commerce (with honours) from the University of British Columbia in 1987. Before beginning his law practice, he was employed as a trade policy officer with the Subsidies and Trade Remedies Division of the Department of External Affairs and International Trade Canada (1989-1990).

Professional Experience

State-to-State Dispute Settlement

· With respect to state-to-state dispute settlement, Greg has acted as counsel, advisor, as liaison counsel between private sector clients and government officials, has drafted pleadings, prepared evidence and has appeared as a member of government delegations before dispute settlement bodies in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Canadian Domestic Trade Law & Regulation

· Greg provides advice and representation with respect to the full range of Canadian domestic trade laws including customs regulation, import and export restrictions, and technical standards and regulations. He has acted for domestic industry and exporter/importer clients in numerous Canadian anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations .

Investor-State Dispute Settlement

· Greg has assisted in the preparation of cases in various arbitrations under the ICSID Arbitration (Additional Facility) Arbitration Rules and has appeared before ICSID AF tribunals.

Other Dispute Settlement

· With respect to other forms of international dispute settlement, Greg has acted as counsel or advisor in Binational Panel reviews of anti-dumping and countervailing duty cases under Chapter Nineteen of the Canada-U.S. FTA and the NAFTA.

Trade Negotiations

· Greg has advised on and been involved in numerous trade negotiations including the Canada-US Free Trade Agreement, the North American Free Trade Agreement (including the side agreements on labour and the environment) and various bilateral trade agreements.

Professional Activities

· Editor of TradeLawGuide (www.tradelawguide.com).

· Member of the Law Society of Upper Canada (Ontario).

· Member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Council on International Law and the Society of International and Economic Law.
