Greg is an experienced real estate and financing transactional and land use lawyer, with particular knowledge and expertise in commercial real estate transactions and development and with "high-end" residential land use, transactions and construction. Greg is Chair of the Firm's Public Policy & Governmental Relations Department and has substantial experience assisting clients with Federal public policy engagements and concerns. For several years Greg has been significantly involved in and has assisted with management of the Firm.
Greg's practice extends to many areas of real estate law and he provides advice, counsel and representation to a highly diverse clientele. His commercial transactions and development practice operates at a statewide (Florida) and national capacity. Through his "high-end" residential and land use practice he maintains a particular proficiency within the Town of Palm Beach and in other coastal communities in South Florida. He is an experienced professional offering knowledgeable services in all aspects of real estate transactions (i.e., acquisition/sale, leasing and financing of residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use properties) and matters (i.e., land use and zoning, permitting, development and re-development, construction, tax and environmental aspects of real estate law). Greg is involved in several local, state and national industry associations and groups involved in real estate ownership and development. Greg's clients include domestic and foreign individuals and closely-held and institutional business entities (corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, joint ventures and trusts) which act in the role of owner, tenant, developer, contractor, architect and otherwise in connection with real estate properties, projects and related matters throughout the United States. Greg has also represented federal, state and foreign charter lenders in commercial, industrial and residential real estate loans and refinancings, (business entity) working capital loans and asset-based financings and foreclosure and workout arrangements.
The Firm's Public Policy & Governmental Relations Department of which Greg is a member engages a practice of wide-ranging services and substantial experience at the Federal level and within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Greg contributes a broad involvement within Federal public policy matters with a particular forte in engagements relating to Federal election and campaign finance.
Greg has participated in firmwide management roles since 2003, when he became Partner-in-Charge of the Firm's Florida offices. Greg was a member of the Firm's Executive Committee from 2006-2008 and has been a member of the Firm's Operating Committee from 2008 to present. In mid-2010 Greg was tasked with primary responsibility for creation and implementation of strategic growth initiative for the Firm's presence in Washington, D.C. where, as a result, Greg now spends a considerable amount of time. In addition to the Public Policy & Governmental Relations Department Greg is a member of the Real Estate Department and is an adjunct member of the Firm's Business Law and Private Client Departments and of the Finance Practice Group.
Greg has led discussions and moderated legal education seminars and has written legal articles concerning various matters and issues involving real estate law. Greg has also presented and written speeches on behalf of candidates for local, state and national public office.
Notable Experience
· Greg has provided comprehensive counsel for clients in purchase, development, financing and sale of mixed-use, commercial (retail and office), industrial, hotel, assisted living, condominium/apartment, boatyard/marina and other specialty properties located in Florida, including assistance with land use and environmental issues, on transactions ranging from $100,000 to in excess of $250,000,000.
· Greg's involvement with the Public Policy & Governmental Relations Department has him routinely counseling and assisting clients of the Firm in matters pertaining to Federal election and campaign finance and, more broadly, on matters at a Federal level that range from healthcare and financial services reform to tax policy.
· Through Greg's representation numerous clients have been guided through complex zoning, development and land mark issues before Palm Beach County, the Town of Palm Beach and other local municipalities. Recently, Greg facilitated, for a large acreage development project, the first private transfer of development density in Palm Beach County since 1986 and was successful in negotiating and obtaining a CRALLS (Constrained Roadway At Lower Levels of Service) designation, achieving compliance with traffic concurrency requirements for Palm Beach County.
· For a project presently in development, Greg is counseling and assisting a client with the comprehensive redevelopment of a downtown area of a seaside Florida town.
· Greg has successfully led clients through complex negotiations and transactions concerning the development and purchase or sale of large acreage development parcels throughout Florida, e.g., 4,000 and 235 acres in Palm Beach County, 800 acres in Lee County, 376 acres in Collier County and 137 acres in Volusia County.

Greg is very active in the business and philanthropic community in South Florida and, increasingly, in Washington, DC. He serves as a Trustee and President of the Gulf Stream School - a private independent day school (pre-K through 8th grade), as a full member of the Urban Land Institute, as a Trustee of the Palm Beach United Way and a member of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County, Inc.
Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, Greg and his family reside in South Florida, but spend a good deal of family time traveling in the eastern United States and Europe - with a particular fondness for the lake region in northern Italy. His other hobbies include reading (novels of historic non-fiction and mystery/suspense fiction, poetry, etc.), golf, snow-skiing and most other sports.
