Gregory J. Krock's practice encompasses a diverse range of commercial matters, with an emphasis on complex commercial, tort and technology litigation. He has represented public and private corporations, energy-related companies, banks and financial institutions, technology companies and governmental entities. He is also a member of the firm's Recruiting Committee. Greg has litigated disputes involving unfair competition, covenants not to compete, trade secrets and confidentiality agreements. His practice also involves energy-related matters (including coal, coke and oil/gas) as well as corporate clients embroiled in contract, securities, fraud and/or shareholder suits. In addition, Greg has experience in professional negligence defense, transportation litigation and civil rights disputes. Greg has served as lead counsel in jury and bench trials, represents clients in both state and federal courts, and has successfully argued before the appellate courts on many occasions. Greg's recent representations include: · Obtaining a $220 million verdict in a five-week jury trial involving a breach of contract and fraudulent misrepresentation associated with the coal, coke and steel industry. The jury verdict, which included $100 million in punitive damages, was reported by the National Law Journal's VerdictSearch to be the seventh-largest jury verdict in 2007. · Obtaining an order from the Ninth Circuit affirming the entry of a permanent injunction precluding a county from regulating the placement of wireless communication facilities used in the telecommunications industry. · Representing employers in enjoining or otherwise remedying their former employees' violation of their restrictive covenant agreements, misappropriation of trade secrets, or unfair competition. · Successfully defending, in a 2 1/2-week jury trial, an international accounting firm in a professional negligence action brought by a producer of coke for use in the steel-making process. The trial involved complex issues surrounding the monetization of tax credits available under Section 29 of the Internal Revenue Code. · Helping to win a federal court judgment on behalf of a national investment firm in excess of $21 million while simultaneously obtaining the dismissal of a related securities fraud action involving short selling and market manipulation. The judgment and dismissal were both affirmed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. · Securing an order dismissing a corporate officer from a breach of contract action, and obtaining a sanction award on the officer's behalf. · Securing an order dismissing a breach of non-exclusive agency contract action brought against a national transportation company. The action sought damages in excess of $5 million. The dismissal order was affirmed by the Superior Court of Pennsylvania. In 2005, 2006 and 2007, he was named as a Pennsylvania Rising Star by Philadelphia Magazine. This honor is bestowed upon only 2.5 percent of attorneys practicing in Pennsylvania. Greg has co-written several litigation-related articles. He co-wrote "Preparing for and Defending Accounting Liability Litigation," which was published by BNA Tax & Accounting in 2006. In addition, Greg has co-written an article for the firm's national White Paper Series addressing protective orders in trade secret cases. As an undergraduate, in addition to excelling academically, Greg excelled athletically as a member of the ice hockey team.
