CMS released Transmittal 1762 on July 2, 2009, updating the Medicare Claims Processing Manual (Manual), CMS Pub. 100-04, effective August 3, 2009. These changes are made in accordance with an interim final rule that was issued on March 8, 2005. See 70 Fed. Reg. 11420.
