About this office:
Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro, LLP prosecutes class and private actions nationwide on behalf of individual and institutional clients. The firm's litigation practice is principally in the areas of securities and antitrust class actions in federal and state courts, corporate governance litigation including claims for breach of fiduciary duty, as well as in prosecuting complex consumer claims, violations of federal anti-discrimination law, toxic tort litigation and litigation on behalf of foreign citizens under the Alien Tort Claims Act. In those cases where we have served as either lead counsel or as a member of plaintiffs' executive committee, the firm has recovered sums in excess of two hundred billion dollars, often successfully advancing novel and socially beneficial principles. In this connection, we have developed important new law in the areas in which we litigate. We also handle, on behalf of major institutional clients, more general complex commercial litigation involving antitrust issues and allegations of breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and negligence. The firm also served as special counsel and lead national counsel to thirteen states in their litigation against the tobacco industry, and is representing various states in litigation against the pharmaceutical industry.
