Harold Huber is a partner in our Energy Group in Toronto. Mr. Huber acted as co-chair of the firm's national energy group and head of the oil and gas practice while he was located at our Calgary office and is now chair of our national private transactions group. He has a very broad commercial transactions practice spanning a variety of industries. In his commercial practice, Mr. Huber has acted as counsel for both private and Crown corporations in all manner of transactions, including corporate reorganizations, privatizations, financings, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and partnerships. He regularly advises on the purchase and sale of private corporations, businesses and assets. In the energy industry, Mr. Huber's practice encompasses diverse transactions in the oil and gas and electric energy industries, with an emphasis on the development of greenfield energy projects. He has considerable experience in the structuring, development, permitting, financing, construction and operation of oil and gas, pipeline and power projects. Mr. Huber has also acted as lead counsel in connection with innovative cross-border project financings of energy projects. He has been listed among the world's best in the Legal Media Group Guide to the World's Leading Energy/Natural Resources Lawyers and is included in the Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada. Some projects in which Mr. Huber has played a significant legal role include several east coast offshore oil projects and international crude oil pipeline projects. Mr. Huber has also been involved with numerous coal, wind and gas-fired power generation projects. Significant recent projects include the refurbishment of aging nuclear plants. In addition, he has a strong background in regulatory law having appeared as counsel before the National Energy Board, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board, the Canada Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission. He has also appeared as a speaker at conferences and seminars sponsored by the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Petroleum Law Foundation. Mr. Huber is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Law Society of Alberta, the Law Society of Saskatchewan, the Canadian Bar Association and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators. He received his B.Admin. from the University of Regina in 1980 and his LL.B. from the University of Saskatchewan in 1981. Mr. Huber was called to the Saskatchewan bar in 1982, the Alberta bar in 1995 and the Ontario bar in 2004. |
