Harris, Caddell & Shanks, P.C. was formed by the merger in 1989 of two of Morgan County's oldest law firms, Harris, Shinn, Phillips & Perry, P.A. and Caddell & Shanks. The Harris family first began practicing law in Morgan County in 1872 when Colonel C.C. Harris moved to Decatur to establish a law practice. The Caddell firm can be traced back to 1935 when John H. Peach and John A. Caddell formed a partnership for the practice of law.
