Helen Liao is a registered foreign lawyer at Mayer Brown JSM with over ten years' working experience in PRC employment law practice. She specialises in all aspects of employment and social security law, and provides daily consultation pertaining to a variety of employment issues raised by HR Departments of Fortune 500 multinational companies. She has a particular focus on cross-border employment arrangements and complex multi-jurisdictional employment issues arising from global mergers and acquisitions, out-sourcing situations and other re-organisations. She is also specialised in advising on policies and practices relating to foreigners' work permits and residence in China. Prior to joining the firm, Helen worked in a key position at a top-tier PRC law firm where she acquired considerable experience in assisting MNC China subsidiaries in dealing with various labour dispute arbitrations and litigations. Helen's experience enables her to advise from a practical perspective on all matters relating to PRC employment law.
Helen is recognised by World Bank as an expert on PRC employment law for her regular contributions to the IFC-World Bank's global Doing Business project. Beijing Average Monthly Wage Increased to CNY 5,793

On 6 June 2014 the Beijing Municipal Human Resource and Social Security Bureau and the Beijing Municipal Statistics Bureau announced that the average monthly wage for 2013 was CNY 5,793. This is an increase of 10.9 percent on the previous average monthly wage of CNY 5,223 determined in 2012.
