Helen H. Zhang is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP where she is a member of the Electronics Practice.
Prior to entering law school, Ms. Zhang was a senior software engineer for Motorola where she designed and developed embedded software for DCT and DCH series HD-DVR digital set-tops, focusing on service acquisition, device drivers, A/V decoding/presentation and GUI. She was also involved in designing and developing DVB-based user interface application software for international cable operators and software for automotive controllers. Ms. Zhang gained patent-related work experience during her internship at the USPTO where she assisted with patent examination.
Ms. Zhang earned her J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law in 2011, where she was an editor of The Northwestern University Law Review. She graduated from Indiana University at Bloomington with a bachelor's degree in computer science with high distinction. As an undergraduate, she was a recipient of the Motorola Scholarship and a teaching assistant to the course Programming Languages.
Ms. Zhang is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
Ms. Zhang is registered to practice as a patent agent before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is admitted to practice law only in Virginia and is practicing under the supervision of a member of the District of Columbia Bar.
