Government Contracts
Holland & Hart has a team of lawyers with extensive experience in government law. We have counseled clients on construction, environmental and regulatory issues related to classified and unclassified federal projects.
Our lawyers handle government contract disputes in multiple state courts and before a wide range of federal and state administrative agencies.
The firm provides transactional and litigation support to government contractors at all stages of the contract process, from initial negotiation and bidding through dispute resolution and agency appeals.
Holland & Hart's depth of experience can make a difference for small and large businesses interested in obtaining or expanding federal contracts. We can explain what you need to do to develop a proposal, determine whether congressional assistance makes sense, develop a pricing and legal strategy, and, if you are a small business, help you take advantage of your small business status.
Labor & Employment
Holland & Hart understands the peculiar labor problems of government contractors. These employers are subject to a number of federal statutes and regulations governing many of their labor and personnel practices, including: overtime, affirmative action, minimum wages, drug testing, prevailing wages, striker replacement and the hiring of handicapped workers and Vietnam veterans.
Equal Opportunity Employer
Every federal contractor knows how important it is to be an equal opportunity employer, and knows the potential cost if an agency concludes otherwise -- loss of the contract. Our labor and employment attorneys recognize the need to handle any employee complaints promptly and thoroughly -- and work with you to find practical solutions to thorny employment problems. We also work closely with every state and federal agency that handles employee-related issues, so we can approach any issues you have efficiently and with savvy.
Immigration
The firm assists employers in obtaining work authorization and related visas for employees under non-immigrant categories such as L-1 (intra-company transferee), H-1B (specialty occupations), E-1/E-2 (treaty trader/treaty investor), and Trade NAFTA (TN), and assist in the resolution of Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) issues. Lawyers also provide services in labor certification, permanent residence and U.S. citizenship, and immigration issues in mergers and acquisitions.
Export / Import Controls
Holland & Hart attorneys regularly advise clients on United States regulations related to exports, imports, data flow and data protection, technology transfers, anti-corruption, embargoes, and other trade sanctions. We have represented prominent multinational companies and some of Colorado's premier corporations that have faced compliance challenges under the complex regime of federal U.S. law affecting international commerce. Our expertise covers the various restrictions on imports, exports, foreign investments in the United States, and foreign corrupt practices; our services include up-front compliance work and training and, if necessary, administrative, civil, and white collar criminal defense representation to violations of these restrictions. We also help our clients decipher complex foreign regulations restricting investment by U.S. companies abroad, data flows, and other activities.
Federal White Collar Crime
Holland & Hart has assembled a team of former state and federal prosecutors with extensive business experience to lead our federal while collar crime group. The team has defended many prominent business professionals who found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. Our attorneys provide proactive legal advice to keep corporate executives and their boards out of trouble with the federal government.
