Practice/Industry Group Overview
HRO understands that water law can be complex and sophisticated, requiring an understanding of multiple facets of state and federal law, including adjudication of water rights, changes of water rights, water quality protection and regulation, federal reserved rights, drainage issues, groundwater, Endangered Species Act and NEPA compliance, mining, oil and gas, environmental, and public lands law, among others. To that end, HRO has developed a team of attorneys with in-depth experience representing clients in all intricacies of sensitive water issues.
HRO has extensive experience in water, natural resources, and energy law, including water rights, acquisitions, transfers, and maintenance; extensive knowledge and familiarity with the historical development of water rights in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho and other western states; environmental mitigation planning; environmental remediation and rehabilitation; and energy generation permitting and compliance.
Our clients range from electric utilities, to water conservancy districts, to developers, to water companies. We appear frequently before the departments of air and water quality and have experience in defending clients in environmental lawsuits and insurance coverage matters relating to such lawsuits throughout the nation.
