A partner and former chair in the Milwaukee office Real Estate Practice of Foley & Lardner LLP, Hugh J. O'Halloran concentrates in the areas of corporate real estate finance, sales and acquisitions; establishment and servicing of real estate investment entities; and zoning and municipal real estate development law matters. He is also a member of the firm's Hospitality, Resort & Golf and Sports Industry Teams.
A significant portion of his time is spent working on golf course developments, including drafting and negotiating design, construction, and operating agreements associated with those projects. His golf course development work also includes financing of golf courses and their associated residential and mixed-use projects.
Mr. O'Halloran also devotes significant portions of his practice to acquisition, development, financing and disposition of senior housing projects, medical office buildings, and industrial facilities. In structuring these transactions, he draws upon his extensive experience working on sale/leaseback structures, municipal finance and tax incentive programs, and third-party equity infusions.
Mr. O'Halloran has been Peer Review Rated as AV® Preeminent™, the highest performance rating in Martindale-Hubbell's peer review rating system, and is ranked by Chambers USA as one of the top real estate lawyers in the state of Wisconsin (2009 - 2011).
A native of Galveston, Texas, Mr. O'Halloran received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Missouri - Columbia and his law degree, magna cum laude, from Marquette University Law School, where he was the editor-in-chief of the Marquette Law Review.
Mr. O'Halloran is a member of the Real Property Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He also is a past editor-in-chief of the Journal of the National Sports Law Institute. He currently serves on the advisory board, Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and on the board of directors, Grand Teton National Park Foundation in Jackson, Wyoming. Mr. O'Halloran also formerly served on the board of the Friends of Schlitz Audubon Center, Inc. in Milwaukee.
