Ian Bies is counsel in our Intellectual Property Group in Toronto.
Mr. Bies has a general intellectual property law practice encompassing the filing and prosecution of trade-mark, patent and design applications, managing intellectual property portfolios, licensing all forms of intellectual property and enforcing intellectual property rights. He also regularly advises clients in respect of commercial transactions in which intellectual property assets are involved.
Mr. Bies' practice also includes reviewing and advising on packaging and labeling, all forms of advertising, and contests. He regularly advises clients with respect to regulatory matters, and assists in obtaining regulatory approvals. He also acts for clients on product recalls, both advising the client on recall strategy, and representing the client with the applicable regulatory body.
Mr. Bies received his B.Sc. in Microbiology & Immunology from McGill University in 1999, and his LLB from Queen's University in 2002. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2003, and is also a registered trade-mark agent and patent agent.
