Irina Vasilchenko concentrates her practice on prosecuting complex securities fraud cases on behalf of institutional investors.
Prior to joining Labaton Sucharow, Ms. Vasilchenko was an associate in the general litigation practice group at Ropes & Gray LLP, where she focused on securities litigation.
Ms. Vasilchenko maintains a commitment to pro bono legal service including, most recently, representing an indigent defendant in a criminal appeal case before the New York First Appellate Division, in association with the Office of the Appellate Defender. She is currently seeking leave to appeal the First Department's decision before the New York Court of Appeals.
Ms. Vasilchenko received a J.D., magna cum laude, from Boston University School of Law, where she was an editor of the Boston University Law Review and was the G. Joseph Tauro Distinguished Scholar (2005), the Paul L. Liacos Distinguished Scholar (2006), and the Edward F. Hennessey Scholar (2007). Ms. Vasilchenko earned a B.A. in Comparative Literature with Distinction, summa cum laude, from Yale University.
She is fluent in Russian and proficient in Spanish.
