| Biography | Jack D. Garamella practices in the areas of Litigation and Business, primarily including the areas of Commercial Litigation, Negligence, Healthcare, Renewable Energy Law, and Trade and Commodities Law. Mr. Garamella received notoriety for the first million dollar plus verdict in a product liability case in western Connecticut and has tried hundreds of cases to both judge and jury during his career. His business litigation experience includes financial, construction, development, environmental law, and various medical business issues. Mr. Garamella uses a team approach calling on the experience and skills of his partners and associates in advising on medical business arrangements. These include the buying and selling of medical practices; the negotiation of medical employment, as well as non-compete agreements; and the representation of health care professionals before the Connecticut Department of Health. He has advised on trading, transporting, and end use of commodities, both hard - petroleum products and metals - as well as soft - sugar and grains. Drawing on his long-time involvement with issues in the waste industry, Mr. Garamella has increasingly been involved in assisting clients in the renewable energy area. This includes the negotiations surrounding the permitting, construction, and operation of renewable energy or "green" facilities. His current work involves counseling on the EPA's newly-released revision of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS2). He is a member and former director of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice in addition to the State and local bars. He is a past president of the Danbury Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court and the United States Supreme Court as well as before State and Federal courts. Attorney Garamella has achieved the highest rating for legal ability in Martindale-Hubbell peer review rating system, the highest rating which can be achieved. Mr. Garamella has been active in civic matters in Danbury since he began practicing. Active with youth, he has coached and supported youth sports of all types. Mr. Garamella has been presented the Danbury Jaycees Distinguished Service Award. He served as trustee and board member of Danbury Hospital and treasurer of the Stanley L. Richter Memorial Park Authority. He has acted as a Special Master in family matters for the Judicial District of Danbury since 1986. He serves as an arbitrator for various organizations in civil matters. He is a former chairman of the Brookfield Board of Ethics.
