Jackie Trimm joined Starnes Davis Florie in 2004. Practice Jackie's practice has been devoted entirely to civil litigation. Prior to her tenure at Starnes Davis Florie, her practice consisted of insurance defense litigation, which included litigation in several areas of law, including general negligence, premises liability, auto, trucking cases, bad faith, landlord/tenant law, products liability, libel/slander, and other areas. Her practice at Starnes Davis Florie is devoted to medical malpractice and general litigation defense, wherein she represents individual physicians, medical groups, and corporations. Highlights * Obtained a defense verdict for an OB/GYN in case involving improper conduction of electricity/heat to patient's tissue during a LEEP. * Obtained reversal of trial court on interlocutory appeal where motion for summary judgment filed on behalf of physician was denied. * Obtained a defense verdict in favor of a certified registered nurse anesthetist in a case alleging negligent failure to appropriately follow manufacturer recommendations in administering Trasylol through a peripheral IV. * Obtained a defense verdict in favor of an anesthesiologist and CRNA in a case alleging that negligent administration of oxygen resulted in a surgical fire during a tonsillectomy for a four-year-old patient. * Obtained a defense verdict in favor of an emergency room physician in a case involving the death of an infant following evaluation and discharge from the emergency room. * Affirmed by Alabama Supreme Court in a case where summary judgment was obtained on behalf of surgeon in a case arising from gastric bypass surgery complications. * Affirmed by Alabama Supreme Court in a case where summary judgment was obtained on behalf of three physician defendants in a wrongful death case. Honors And Awards As an undergraduate at the University of Alabama, Jackie was inducted as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated summa cum laude. As a law student at the University, she was a member of the Bench & Bar Legal Honor Society, served as co-chair of the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board, was a member of the ATLA Trial Advocacy Competition Regional Championship Team, was an editor for the Law and Psychology Review, and received both Best Oral Advocate and Best Written Advocate in the Freshman Moot Court Competition. Jackie was named by Birmingham Magazine as one of "Birmingham's Top Attorneys" for 2009. In 2003, she was named Alabama's Most Prolific Attorney by the Alabama Jury Verdict Reporter. She is currently serving as Program Vice-Chair for DRI's 2012 Medical Liability and Healthcare annual seminar. Community Involvement Jackie is a volunteer of SafeHouse of Shelby County, a domestic violence program serving Shelby, Coosa, and Clay Counties. She has served on the fundraising subcommittee for Voices Against Violence, an initiative of The Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham, for three years, and is currently serving as a member of the 2010 Steering Committee.
