Practice/Industry Group Overview
Applying the experience and knowledge base of 56 attorneys, paralegals and administrative staff, many of whom are multi-lingual, the Jackson Lewis Global Immigration Practice has established a strong reputation for anticipating and quickly adapting to changing regulatory trends and developments. The firm maintains a robust Washington D.C. presence to foster open channels with government agency decision makers, and to provide clients with government-affairs support on immigration policy, laws and regulations in Congress and the Executive Branch. Through our participation in L&E Global, an international alliance of leading employment and labor law boutique firms, we can offer our clients efficient and cost-effective legal counsel to obtain visas and work permits abroad.
Our attorneys provide comprehensive, innovative, and cost-effective immigration guidance to employers, including identifying creative visa options and strategies for the global migration of critical staff and the hiring of foreign workers. The group has a particular appreciation for the urgency required in obtaining visas for needed international personnel and in minimizing bureaucratic delay. We train management on non-discrimination and I-9 (IRCA) employment eligibility verification best practices, defend employers in Department of Homeland Security (DHS) civil and criminal workplace investigations, provide guidance on E-Verify and Social Security no-match issues, and identify the implications of state and local immigration laws.
The firm’s Global Immigration group also has experience representing key executives involved with immigration detention and court removal proceedings. The depth of talent and collaborative culture within the group allows the firm to anticipate clients’ needs and develop creative, efficient solutions for today’s evolving business environment.
The Global Immigration Group at Jackson Lewis can provide employers with comprehensive counsel that includes visa benefit services, assistance with regulatory compliance, oversight of outbound employee transfers to worksites overseas, guidance on corporate transactions and reductions in force, and federal policy lobbying.
