Background
Jacquie El-Chammas is an associate in our Ottawa office; her practice focuses on civil litigation. Jacquie was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2010. She graduated from the French Common Law program at the University of Ottawa and completed a concentration in International Law. She was the recipient of the Éditions Yvon Blais prize awarded to the student with the highest cumulative grade point average in the LLB French Common Law program. She was also the recipient of the BLG research Fellowship in 2007. Prior to attending law school, Jacquie received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Jacquie is fluently bilingual in English and French and practises in both official languages. She also speaks Arabic.
Jacquie has appeared before the Small Claims Court, Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court, Federal Court, Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Canadian Human Rights Commission, Ottawa Real Estate Board and Supreme Court of Canada.

· Jacquie practises civil litigation with an emphasis on health law, commercial litigation, labour and employment, insurance defence and administrative law.

· Member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association and the Advocates' Society of Ontario.
· Member of l'Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario (AJEFO)
· Associate representative for the BLG United Way committee
· Member of the recipient team of the Lexpert 2011 Zenith Award for the Pro Bono services offered to veterans who were unsuccessful before the Veterans Review & Appeal Board in their application for judicial review by the Federal Court
· Author of a paper entitled "Are Your Managers Really Managers? The Legal Concept of "Manager" Under the Canada Labour Code"
