James A. Winkler is a retired partner and former head of the Real Estate Practice Group in Foley & Lardner LLP's Chicago office. Mr. Winkler has practiced law in Chicago since 1968 and has extensive experience in all aspects of real estate practice, including the representation of both lenders and developers in commercial office, shopping center, hotel, industrial building and industrial park and multi-family residential developments. He has also been retained to do extensive work in commercial leasing, planned unit developments, joint ventures and problem loan workouts and restructurings.
Mr. Winkler is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, where he was elected to the academic honor society, Phi Beta Kappa, and of Harvard Law School. He is a member of the esteemed American College of Real Estate Lawyers and is one of only 250 attorneys world-wide listed in the Guide to the World's Leading Real Estate Lawyers, published by the International Financial Law Review.
