Biography

Jim Wine is a shareholder in the Business, Finance, and Real Estate Department and practices primarily in the areas of real estate, real estate finance, and land use and zoning law. A major portion of Jim's practice consists of representing life insurance company lenders in connection with their national commercial mortgage loan and real estate investment programs.

Jim has served as Chair of the Mortgage Lending Committee of the American Bar Association Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section (the "RPTE"), and as Chair of the Partnerships and Limited Liability Company Committee of the RPTE. Jim has also recently served as Chair of the Special Investors and Investment Structure Group of the RPPT (which includes life insurance company investments).

Jim is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and serves on the Board of Regents of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. Jim is listed in Chambers Guide to America's Leading Business Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America, and Iowa Super Lawyers. Jim is the only Iowa lawyer to be listed in Who's Who Legal: USA - Real Estate Law.

Jim received an A.B. from Princeton University in 1979, and a J.D. from the University of Iowa, with high distinction, in 1982.

Represented lender in connection with $188 million loan secured by multistate, cross-collateralid office building portfolio.

Represented lender in connection with $140 million sale of office building, under Section 363 of Bankruptcy Code.

Represented property owner in connection with tax increment financing agreement for new $15 million industrial building.

Represented lender in connection with $127 million loan secured by multifamily properties.
