Mr. Metzler is the Chair of Boylan Code's Litigation Group, and concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, employment matters, and intellectual property disputes, including both the prosecution and defense of trademark, copyright and patent infringement actions, and trade secret misappropriation matters, in State and Federal courts, at both the trial and appellate levels.
Professional Experience
Jim is a former military and commercial airline pilot and is a retired United States Air Force Reservist. He has written and lectured on topics related to civil litigation, is a former instructor at the St. John Fisher College Paralegal Institute, and is a contributing editor to Civil Pre-Trial Proceedings in New York (West Group Publishing Co., 1999).

He is a member of the Monroe County Bar Association.
Professional Honors and Achievement
Jim is a co-author (along with Sharon Stiller) of Expert Witnesses: Employment Cases, Thomson West, 2008. He is listed in New York Super Lawyers - Upstate Edition for Commercial Litigation. He was a 1986 recipient of the "William E. McKnight Volunteer Service Award" from the Volunteer Legal Services Project.

Jim is actively involved in leadership roles in a wide variety of local educational, charitable and service not-for-profit organizations, including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Pittsford Youth Services.
