Jim is an associate in the Labor and Employment Practice Group. He focuses his practice on matters that are of critical importance to employers including a wide variety of federal and state workplace discrimination laws. While based in Atlanta, Jim regularly advises and represents employers in matters throughout the United States.
Specifically, Jim has represented employers in litigation involving the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), the Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), breach of employment contracts, breach of non-competition agreements, torts, and a number of other related laws and actions.
Jim has represented employers in responding to investigations, audits, or other requests from federal agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), OSHA, the OFCCP, and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
Jim routinely advises employers on all aspects of employment related law, including the development of employee handbooks and policies, compensation schemes, employment contracts, non-competition agreements, layoffs, hiring and firing decisions, severance agreements, employee training, the exempt status of employees, and the duties and liabilities of employers when responding to third-party requests (e.g., requests from a durable power of attorney or guardian) that are made on behalf of current or former employees.
Jim regularly contributes to the Newsletter, Employment and The Law.
Jim is a member of the Board of Training Leaders International (TLI) (Minneapolis, Minnesota) and also serves as the Secretary of TLI.
