Jim Henderson is a member of Sutherland's Corporate Practice Group, where he focuses on serving clients in the areas of finance, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, general corporate law, securities and governance.
He has represented the State of Georgia, numerous political subdivisions, hospitals, colleges and universities, and other nonprofit entities throughout the country. He also has represented investment banking firms in connection with project financings on both a taxable and tax-exempt basis.
Jim currently serves as the firm's Chief Diversity Officer. He has been a longtime champion of diversity across the legal field and has been a personal mentor to many of the firm's diverse attorneys. Previously, he served as Sutherland's Managing Partner from 1996 to 2005, during which time the firm experienced exceptional growth in both the number of clients served as well as the number of practicing lawyers.

Announced at the firm's annual partners meeting, Jim Henderson has stepped down as Firmwide Managing Partner and the firm has named Mark Wasserman as his successor. Jim will keep a leadership position at the firm as Chair of the Corporate group and will work to further expand the New York Office.
