James M. Landis is a retired partner with Foley & Lardner. As a member of the firm's Antitrust Practice, he represented business clients in several states in all forms of commercial litigation, including litigation arising from claims of antitrust and securities violations and unfair competition, as well as copyright, trademark, service mark, franchising, and trade secret challenges and protection. He was also a member of the Sports Industry Team.
Mr. Landis counseled clients in antitrust compliance and employment agreements. He has also counseled and litigated antitrust cases, including price discrimination cases under the Robinson-Patman Act, securities cases, straight breach of contract claims, UCC cases, fraud claims, franchise cases, and lender liability claims.
Previously a lawyer in the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, Mr. Landis had practiced for over 35 years in Florida and Georgia and was listed in Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers (2005-07) and The Best Lawyers in America®. He was also named to the 2007 and 2008 Florida "Super Lawyers" list by Law Politics Media, Inc.
Mr. Landis is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida (and is a member of the Trial Bar of the Southern District of Florida); the Fifth, Eighth and Eleventh Circuit Courts; and the U.S. Supreme Court.
