Jim comes from a long lineage of attorneys. Like his father before him, he is dedicated to the community for which he serves. He specializes in many areas of general practice law; more specifically, bankruptcy, domestic relations, real estate, estate planning, probate practice, and criminal law.
Born and raised in Owosso, Jim graduated from Owosso High School in 1960. In 1964 he graduated from Amherst College. After graduating with honors from the University of Michigan Law school in 1966, Jim practiced two years in the Grand Rapids Area. In January of 1969 he moved to Bay City to be a partner in a local law firm and in 1978 he started Miner and Miner, PLLC.
Jim's professional affiliations include admissions to the Western (since 1966) and Eastern (since 1969) District Michigan federal courts, Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit (since 2003), Bay County Bar Association, Michigan Trial Lawyers Association Civic Organizations, past President and present member of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bay County Inc., present President of the Boys and Girls Club of Bay County Foundation, Inc., and past President and present member of the Bay City Lions Club, the fourth largest Lions club in the United States.
