James Timothy White (Tim) is a Member of the Creditor's Rights and Bankruptcy Section and an adjunct member of the Banking and Real Estate Section. His primary emphasis is on representing banks in work-outs and providing counsel in their day-to-day operational problems and relationships with customers, other banks, and governmental agencies.
Tim routinely handles litigation involving banks and other lenders. His bankruptcy experience covers all phases of secured creditor representation.
Recent Assignments
· Advised United Community Bank of Blairsville, Georgia in the integration of their banking systems software across Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. This involved close analysis of each state's applicable laws so that standardized forms could be customized for use in each state.
· Represented Fidelity Bank in the receiverships of Cash 4 Title and Chemical Alliance entities and individuals. This involved approximately 400 investors and the SEC appointed receivers
· Successfully avoided a delay in the Minnesota Twins baseball season by obtaining relief for the Minneapolis Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission from a contract with a bankrupt supplier of artificial turf

Before Stites & Harbison
Tim has practiced in Atlanta since graduating from Vanderbilt Law School in 1964. Prior to law school, he attended University of Tennessee at Martin focusing on pre-law curriculum. He was a partner at Varner, Stephens, Humphries & White prior to its merger with Stites & Harbison in 1999.

Tim has maintained a lifelong interest in math and science. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and has traveled to the Big Island of Hawaii and to Munich, Germany to view total solar eclipses.
