Mr. Rhymes is a member of the firm's oil and gas transactional and oil and gas litigation practice groups.
His extensive litigation experience includes energy, oilfield restoration, royalty, oil well lien and joint operating agreement litigation in all federal and state courts. He has appeared before the Department of Conservation in unitization matters and before the State Mineral Board on state leasing issues. He has advised clients on oil and gas matters both in Louisiana and Texas.
He has prepared title examinations on property in both North and South Louisiana, including preparing both drill site and division order title opinions. He also advises clients on oil and gas industry regulations, oil and gas lease provisions and maintenance and other practical aspects of drilling for and producing oil and gas in Louisiana. He has drafted and negotiated various contracts and agreements, including surface and subsurface leases, mineral leases, operating agreements, subleases, assignments of leases and overriding royalties. He has also handled midstream contracts, such as firm long term transportation agreements and NAESB contracts.
Mr. Rhymes is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Professional Landmen, the Lafayette Association of Professional Landmen, and the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association. He is the President of the Lafayette Federal Bar Association, and also belongs to the American Bar Association, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and Lafayette Chamber of Commerce.
