Jane C. Raiford joined Adams and Reese in 1990 and serves as a Partner in the Special Business Services Practice Group in the firm's Houston office.
Jane has been named among the Best Lawyers® in Environmental Law and she is admitted to practice in both Louisiana and Texas.
Prior to joining Adams and Reese, Jane worked in the oil and Gas Section of another firm, concentrating on title examinations, leasehold issues, property issues and acquisitions. She then joined the Legal Department of Shell Oil Company, providing legal support for exploration and production clients.
At Shell, and continuing at Adams and Reese, Jane has developed her environmental practice, focusing on Clean Water Act permitting, Superfund, matters relating to exploration and production waste, voluntary site remediation and environmental litigation. She has worked as a member of several teams representing major clients in various toxic tort and exposure cases and continued practicing in the area of oil and gas including title, support in transactions, review of contracts and oil and gas litigation.
Her other significant contributions in her field include:
· Numerous presentations on oil and gas and environmental issues.
· Author of a chapter on site remediation in the Louisiana Environmental Law Handbook.
· Named Among "Women of the Year" by New Orleans CityBusiness for her professional and community achievements.
In the community, Jane has served as president of the Louisiana Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and participates in numerous HUGS activities at Adams and Reese. Jane was named YWCA Role Model in 2002.
She earned her J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law in 1982, and received her B.A. from the University of New Orleans in 1977.
