Professional Experience
Jason Weathers represents local and national clients in complex disputes and litigation in federal and state courts in several areas, including commercial litigation, business torts, antitrust, unfair trade practices, real estate litigation, land use and construction. Jason also represents individuals, corporations and trade associations in antitrust investigations by the Federal Trade Commission and states attorneys general. Jason has tried cases in federal and state courts and also has experience with a variety of forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Representative Matters
· Representation of the developer of a mixed-use project in successfully defending a series of federal and state suits by a competing international shopping mall developer and in a subsequent lawsuit alleging anticompetitive conduct and vexatious litigation by the competing developer
· Representation of commercial and institutional entities in multi-party litigation relating to the allocation of environmental liability
· Representation of owners, developers, general contractors and sureties in multi-party litigation arising out of real estate development and redevelopment projects
· Defended mortgage lending institutions, national banks, state banks and credit unions in a variety of actions, class actions and consumer disputes relating to mortgage backed securities litigation and litigation relating to lending practices and the administration of mortgage loan accounts
· Represented a national bank and its operating subsidiary in a suit which determined that federal law preempts state regulatory and visitorial authority over the wholly-owned operating subsidiary of a national bank
