Jean-François Lehoux is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault's Litigation Group.
His practice includes civil and commercial litigation, class actions, product liability litigation, and professional disciplinary litigation, as well as professional and civil liability.
During his 28 years of experience in litigation, Mr. Lehoux has supervised complex and varied civil and commercial litigation cases, as well as several major class actions. He has extensive experience before various tribunals. He is currently involved in several major and complex class actions, requiring teams of several lawyers from the firm and from other firms across Canada and abroad, on behalf of clients doing business both in Canada and abroad.
Mr. Lehoux is a renowned lecturer on civil liability and has authored numerous presentations and conferences on class actions, including: Overview of Class Action in Quebec: The gates to heaven may now have been slightly narrowed, What every board should know about Class Actions; Falling from grace, Is Quebec still class action's heaven in Canada?; and, very recently, Civil Liability and Class Actions: A difficult co-existence?. For many years he has been an active member of the Canadian Bar in the Civil Litigation and Insurance sections. He taught Law of Evidence at the Québec Bar School and also sat for many years on the Liaison Committee of the Québec Bar with the Québec Court of Appeal. He is also a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Québec Bar.
Mr. Lehoux has been listed in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, a complete guide to leading law firms and practitioners in Canada, as a leader in the areas of Negligence and Professional Liability. He appears as a leading lawyer in Personal Injury Litigation in the last edition of Best Lawyers in Canada. He has also been rated by the National Post as one of the "best lawyers for personal injury in Canada".
Mr. Lehoux completed his college degree in Québec City at the Petit Séminaire, and his law degree at Université Laval in 1981. He was called to the Quebec bar in November 1982 and became a partner of the firm in 1989.
