| Biography | Jean Meijer joined the practice as a director in 2006. She holds B.A. and LL.B. degrees from Rhodes University and an LL.M. from the University of South Africa. Jean has been involved in many of the high profile competition matters in South Africa including: representing Standard Bank in the enquiry into competition in banking, representing Harmony Gold and DRD against Mittal Steel in the first excessive pricing case to be decided by the Competition Tribunal, representing the American Natural Soda Ash Corporation in a successful appeal to the Supreme Court of Appeal in relation to the interpretation of the per se prohibition on price fixing and in its subsequent settlement with the Competition Commission. Jean is rated as a leading South African competition lawyer by Chambers Global and is highly recommended in the field by PLC Which Lawyer. She is rated among the Who's Who of Competition lawyers in South Africa and was selected for inclusion in the Guide to the World's Leading Competition and Antitrust Lawyers. She was also selected for inclusion in the First Edition of the Marquis Who's Who of Emerging Leaders. |
