Biography

Jeffrey Feasby's practice focuses on complex civil litigation matters, including securities, unfair competition, intellectual property, corporate governance, trusts and estates, and real estate disclosure and defect cases. Jeff has experience litigating class actions and other complex disputes before state, federal and appellate courts, and in various arbitration forums. He has defended and prosecuted cases involving claims of securities and common law fraud, unfair competition/business practices, misappropriation of trade secrets, trademark and copyright infringement, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract and elder abuse as well as other business-related torts. He also has experience litigating all varieties of maritime cases, including defending ship owners against personal injury/wrongful death and cargo damage claims.

Jeff is active in the local community, working pro bono for the County of San Diego and for individual clients through the San Diego County Volunteer Lawyer Program. He also serves on the board of directors of the First San Diego Courthouse and on the San Diego Chamber of Commerce's Education and Workforce Development Committee.

Recent Work / Representative Matters

EcoBusiness Alliance v. Black, Case No. 37-2009-0008553-CU-MC-CTL (S.D. Sup. Ct.) - Represented defendant who was a minority investor in the plaintiff LLC in this trade secrets case. After defeating plaintiff's application for temporary restraining order, the parties reached a settlement in which client received the return of his investment.

Commercetel Canada Corp., et al. v. Cherry, Case No. 37-2008-00081380-CU-DF-CTL (S.D. Sup. Ct.) - Represented telecom company in action filed against former president alleging breach of contract, extortion and defamation among other claims. Obtained emergency temporary restraining order and subsequent preliminary injunction enjoining former president and his related businesses from engaging in further extortive conduct. Initiated contempt proceeding after former president and his businesses violated the injunction on numerous occasions and succeeded at trial in convicting former president and his businesses of numerous counts of contempt resulting in a jail sentence for the former president. Ultimately obtained judgment in favor of client.

Muzquiz v. Muzquiz, Case No. 06CV2806 (S.D. Cal.) - District Court granted client's motion to dismiss based on abstention doctrine due to pending probate proceeding in Mexico.

Preserve Calavera v. U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers, Case No. 04CV2301 (S.D. Cal.) - Successfully represented local developer in action brought by environmental group to stop construction of Carlsbad business park. Opposed plaintiff's motion for preliminary injunction and obtained summary judgment in favor of client.

Puerta v. Prudential Securities, Inc., Case No. G030945 (Cal.App. 4th Dist.) - Court of Appeal upheld trial court's order granting client's petition to confirm arbitration award.

Pearlman v. Prudential Securities, Inc., Case No. B164100 (Cal.App. 2nd Dist.) - Court of Appeal upheld trial court's judgment dismissal of action after sustaining client's demurrer.

Dozier v. Bridgestone/Firestone North America, Case No. B162313 (Cal.App.2nd Dist.) - Court of Appeal upheld trial court's order denying the plaintiff's motion to set aside judgment after court granted client's motion for judgment on the pleadings.

Stein v. UBS Financial Services Inc., NASD Case No. 02-0293 1 - Successfully defended clients in binding arbitration before the National Association of Securities Dealers.

Holcomb v. The Prudential Insurance Company of America, Case No. BC165535 (L.A. Sup. Ct.) - Member of trial team that obtained a defense verdict for corporate clients on all of plaintiffs' claims for slander, intentional and negligent interference with contractual relations, intentional and negligent interference with prospective economic advantage, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
