Jeffrey B. Keiper is a Shareholder and the Litigation Manager of the Cleveland, OH office of Jackson Lewis P.C. He obtained his law degree with honors at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he was an Associate Editor of the Ohio State Law Journal. Mr. Keiper also received a master's degree from Indiana University and his undergraduate degree from The College of Wooster (Phi Beta Kappa). Mr. Keiper is admitted to practice law in federal and state courts in Ohio, federal courts in Washington and Illinois, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
For the past 22 years, Mr. Keiper has devoted his practice exclusively to several areas of management side employment and labor law. Mr. Keiper has successfully defended complex labor-related lawsuits, multiple labor arbitration/union disputes, NLRB proceedings, as well as single- and multi-plaintiff employment litigation matters for large manufacturing and service companies. He has represented employers before multiple state and federal courts, as well as state and federal agencies such as the OCRC, EEOC and NLRB. Mr. Keiper has significant experience representing employers in the food production, pharmaceutical, automotive, steel/metal fabricating and other manufacturing industries in a variety of litigation and traditional labor relations matters, including collective bargaining and representation cases.
Mr. Keiper has particularly extensive experience advising and defending employers in discharge and contract interpretation arbitrations, sexual harassment and other employment discrimination claims, and the full range of wrongful discharge claims. He also frequently provides training, consultation and coaching relative to such matters, including preventive strategies, union avoidance and practical solutions.
Mr. Keiper has an “AV” Rating in Martindale-Hubbell legal directory, which is the highest possible rating for legal competence and ethical standards. Mr. Keiper was featured in the September 2008 issue of Forbes magazine as one of Ohio's preeminent labor and employment lawyers. Mr. Keiper has been selected by his peers as an Ohio Super Lawyer in consecutive years 2010 - 2015, has been named a “Leader in the Field” in Ohio in Labor and Employment Law in Chambers USA Legal Guide each year from 2011 through 2014, and was included in the 2015 Best Lawyers in America directory.
