| Biography | Jeffrey H. Canfield has extensive experience assisting clients to obtain and protect valuable intellectual property rights. In over 15 years of practice, he has worked with a wide range of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to startups, across a broad spectrum of electronics, electrical devices and computer software applications. In all cases, he provides effective counsel obtaining patent rights and enhancing clients' portfolios. As a former in-house patent attorney and as a practicing design engineer, Mr. Canfield is particularly able to relate to engineers and other technically inclined innovators as well as in-house counsel. Recent Client Work: Mr. Canfield successfully prosecuted patent applications and counseled clients in these areas: Configuring and launching interface graphics for process control interface systems; Abnormal situation detection in process plants; Methods for implementing pay-per-use computer systems; Billing systems for pre-paid and post paid wireless telephone systems; Internet shopping and advertising systems; Video editing systems; Medical devices and treatment techniques; Network video games and shared three dimensional virtual reality systems. Representative Experience In addition to his patent prosecution work, Mr. Canfield has provided reliable counsel in non-infringement and invalidity matters and issued freedom to operate opinions. He also capably helps clients manage their intellectual property assets with competitive patent portfolio review and analysis, strategic planning, standards review and handling of licensing issues. Background and Credentials: Prior to his law firm experience, he gained useful in-house experience as patent counsel to Methode Electronics. He also served as a senior project engineer for Littell International. Mr. Canfield received his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School and his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Michigan Technological University.
