Jeff is a Member in the firm's Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Commercial Law Section. He is also a member of the Subprime Practice Group. Jeff has practiced in the area of bankruptcy, commercial law and debtor/creditor law for over 30 years, and is a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy and commercial law subjects before professional and trade organizations.
Jeff's practice is focused on all aspects of bankruptcy (including debtors, creditors, and committees), out-of-court workouts, insolvency, receiverships, and debtor/creditor rights. In addition, he is a commercial law litigator in areas such as contract and business disputes. Industries in which he has recently represented clients include real estate, health care, telecommunications, software, agriculture, consumer products, and food services.
Jeff has been chosen by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America every year since 1995, has been named Southern California Super Lawyer every year since 2007, and has repeatedly been listed as among San Diego's Best Lawyers by San Diego Magazine.
He is admitted to practice in California and New York, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Jeff is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum, the American Bar Association, and the California and San Diego bar associations. Jeff received his B.A. from the State University of New York (1977) and his J.D. from Boston University School of Law (1980).
