Jennifer L. Schancupp is Of Counsel in the Stamford, Connecticut, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice encompasses employment litigation and counseling employers on a variety of employment practices, including employment handbooks and policies.
Ms. Schancupp's litigation experience includes defending federal and state claims of discrimination based on sex, age, race and disability as well as claims of sexual harassment, retaliatory discharge. Ms. Schancupp has also successfully defended various state law claims of wrongful discharge such as breach of contract or tort claims. Ms. Schancupp has successfully defended matters before the U. S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, all courts of the State of Connecticut, the State of Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities and the State of Connecticut Labor Department's Board of Mediation and Arbitration. Ms. Schancupp has also successfully argued a defendant's judgment on appeal to the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and written numerous successful appellate briefs for state and federal courts.
Ms. Schancupp's practice also encompasses conducting training on employment-related topics such as sexual harassment prevention, hiring practices and litigation avoidance.
Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Ms. Schancupp's practice included the representation of both plaintiffs and defendants in employment matters. Her plaintiff's work included obtaining a six-figure verdict for the plaintiff in a federal age discrimination case.
During law school, she served as an intern for the Honorable Peter J. Dorsey of the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut and at the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.
