Jennifer Toussaint is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP and a member of the firm's Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Consumer Financial Services Litigation Practices.
Ms. Toussaint maintains a broad practice representing corporations in complex litigation matters in state and federal court. She assists clients with a variety of issues, including the defense of claims filed under the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act of 1974 (RESPA) and related consumer protection laws, antitrust investigations, and contract disputes. Ms. Toussaint has also assisted clients in preparing for investigations by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).
Ms. Toussaint maintains a significant commitment to pro bono work, achieving favorable results in asylum, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) self-petition, U-Visa application, and social security cases. She is the D.C. office liaison to the Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts (WALA) organization and coordinates staffing needs for incoming pro bono matters.
Prior to joining Foley, Ms. Toussaint was a research assistant at the Georgetown University Law Center. During law school, Ms. Toussaint participated in the International Women's Human Rights Clinic, where she conducted extensive research on the land and property rights of Kenyan women. The research and fact-finding trip culminated in a report of findings and draft legislation presented to the Kenyan Parliament for review.
Ms. Toussaint earned her law degree from The Georgetown University Law Center (J.D., 2008), where she was articles & notes editor of The Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law. She earned her undergraduate degree in criminal justice from St. John's University (B.S., magna cum laude, 2005).
Ms. Toussaint is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia and Washington, D.C. She is a member of the Women's Bar Association (WBA) of the District of Columbia.
