Jerald M. Wortsman is a partner in the firm's Toronto office. His practice focuses on national and international corporate tax planning, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations and corporate finance.
Mr. Wortsman has advised on a number of Canadian and cross-border acquisitions, divestitures and restructurings, and a number of inbound and outbound investments and multinational group structures. He has also advised on the structuring and issuance of various financial instruments and other capital markets activity.
Mr. Wortsman is listed in the 2011 edition of Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers in the area of tax law. He is described as "a favourite choice for cross-border international tax planning". He also appears in the 2011 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, a guide to the leading law firms and practitioners in Canada, in the area of corporate tax and derivatives and is listed in the 2008 Guide to the World's Leading Tax Advisers. Mr. Wortsman is recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada as a leading lawyer in the field of tax law.
Mr. Wortsman has written and spoken on a range of current tax topics for the Canadian Tax Foundation and other organizations and publications.
Mr. Wortsman received his LLB from the University of Toronto in 1989, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1991.
