Mr. Tanenbaum practices civil litigation, with an emphasis on litigation related to education law, family law, and business litigation. His education practice includes representation of children with respect to special education services, educational placement, and school discipline, as well as representation of private schools as general counsel. His family law practice includes all aspects of divorce, equitable distribution, child and spousal support, and child custody. His business matters include litigation of matters relating to contract, employment discrimination, restrictive covenants, premises liability/personal injury, fiduciary duties, and intellectual property. Areas of Experience Employment Discrimination · Counsel for corporate entities in defense of numerous discrimination and reverse-discrimination lawsuits. Fiduciary Duties · Counsel for plaintiff in breach of fiduciary duty action against board of trustees of union pension plan that resulted in an $8 million dollar recovery for the plan. Education Law · Mr. Tanenbaum represents children with special learning needs or other disabilities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey in matters involving the provision of a free and appropriate education, placement and tuition reimbursement, student discipline and school-related bullying and harassment. · He has presented seminars to educators, attorneys, other professionals and parents on the No Child Left Behind Act, General Rights and Obligations of the IDEA and Section 504, and The Legal Issues of Harassment and Bullying. · He is the author of "The Third Circuit Provides New Guidance Regarding the Interaction of 'Least Restrictive Environment' and 'Meaningful Benefit," published at www.amicusforchildren.org (Feb. 2004), and "School Districts Cannot Ignore Social Emotional Needs," published in the Autism Society of Berks, PA, Summer 2004 Newsletter. · Mr. Tanenbaum is currently the chairperson for the Haddonfield Committee for Children With Special Learning Needs and a past volunteer for the Philadelphia Support Center for Child Advocates. Additional Background Before law school, Mr. Tanenbaum was a performing musician for 10 years. He recorded and traveled with an internationally recognized chamber music ensemble, performed in the Kool Jazz Festival and played in the orchestra of the national touring production of a hit off-Broadway musical.
