Jessica A. duHoffmann is a principal in the Baltimore office of Miles & Stockbridge. Jessica practices in the area of commercial and business litigation with a focus on construction law, mechanics' liens, and bond claims. Jessica is an experienced litigator at both the trial and appellate levels in Maryland, New York, the District of Columbia and in other jurisdictions. In addition, she has experience in representing clients in various forms of alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including private mediation and commercial arbitration before the American Arbitration Association. She has successfully brokered substantial settlements for unpaid contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on private and public construction projects throughout the country for unpaid contract claims, including claims attendant with change orders, equitable adjustments, and delays. She has also successfully defended construction defect claims. Jessica also assists retail clients and clients in the construction business with licensing and training issues relative to home improvement laws and regulations. She frequently gives in-house seminars on issues such as mechanics' liens, payment bond claims, and construction law. Jessica also assists national suppliers with drafting agreements and credit forms. Jessica also has experience representing financial institutions in commercial matters, including contract disputes, real estate matters, and credit and collection issues. Jessica also has experience with corporate governance disputes, including those disputes arising within non-profit organizations. Supporting equal access to justice for all, including those in need, Jessica has an active pro-bono practice, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Legal Aid Bureau of Maryland.
