The firm's roots in Hays and Western Kansas extend back to 1937 when Norman W. Jeter established his law office in Hays, Kansas. He was later recognized by the Kansas Bar Association for seventy years of legal service. Norman was a member of the Kansas Board of Regents from 1986 to 1990 and served as its chairman. The attorneys with the firm are graduates of the University of Kansas School of Law and are active in bar association activities and many governmental, community and civic endeavors. The Honorable Edward Larson, who was a member of the firm from 1960 until November, 1987, is a recently retired Justice of the Kansas Supreme Court. The Honorable Jerry Moran who was a member of the firm from 1983 until 1997 is now serving his first term as US Senator for the State of Kansas. Joseph W. Jeter is past President of the Oil and Gas Section of Kansas Bar Association and a member of the Kansas Judicial Council. William W. Jeter is former President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Kansas County Counselors Association.
