Joanne C. Youn is a member in Caplin & Drysdale's Washington, D.C. office. Ms. Youn's practice encompasses all areas of employee benefits law and ERISA.
Services
Ms. Youn has significant experience advising clients with regard to the design and administration of qualified pension plans, corrective action under the IRS Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System (EPCRS), and fiduciary obligations under U.S. Department of Labor regulations. She has handled numerous projects involving nonqualified deferred compensation plans, the review and drafting of plan documents and executive agreements, and compliance assistance with regard to Code Section 409A and 457A requirements.
Ms. Youn also regularly advises clients with regard to the management of fully insured and self-insured health and welfare plans, including compliance and documentation under HIPAA, COBRA and Medicare Part D. Her experience includes counsel to public and private companies regarding employee benefit representations, covenants, diligence and transitions related to acquisitions and financings. Her clients include both for-profit and nonprofit organizations.
Professional Activities
Ms. Youn is active in both the tax community and the minority bar. She also assists Caplin & Drysdale's international tax group as foreign counsel liaison for business development activities in China. Ms. Youn is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
