Mr. VanderVeen represents governmental bond issuers, underwriters and nonprofit and private activity borrowers in public finance matters. His experience in the health care industry includes bond financings of hospital, nursing home, assisted living and retirement housing facilities, including facilities for multi-state systems. A significant portion of Mr. VanderVeen's practice consists of financings for wastewater/clean water and drinking water state revolving funds. He also is experienced in industrial development projects, the reuse of federal facilities for economic development and state financing secured by tobacco settlement revenues.
•Bond counsel, underwriter's counsel and borrower's counsel for health care financings of acute-care hospital, nursing, assisted living and retirement housing facilities in at least one dozen states.
•Counsel to governmental bond issuers.
•Structuring wastewater/clean water or drinking water state revolving fund programs to meet federal and state program requirements and satisfy rating agency criteria beginning with the inception of the respective federal capitalization grant programs; completion of state revolving fund financings as bond counsel, underwriter's counsel or disclosure counsel in at least four states.
•Counsel in connection with economic development proposals, including drafting legislation and negotiation of financing, land acquisition and environmental remediation packages and intergovernmental agreements with federal, state and local agencies.
•Counsel to the underwriter for the first tobacco revenue bond financing in the State of Arkansas.
