John A. Tucker, a partner with Foley & Lardner LLP, is the chair of the Jacksonville office's Litigation Department. He practices in Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution, including general business, construction, products liability, environmental and labor litigation matters.
Mr. Tucker's law practice has involved serving a broad range of clients, including financial institutions, public companies, family-owned businesses, professionals, developers, contractors, suppliers, property owners, and others in a variety of legal matters. His experience in these areas provides him with a creative perspective to assist clients with their special business and professional needs.
Mr. Tucker has been Peer Review Rated as AV® Preeminent™, the highest performance rating in Martindale-Hubbell's peer review rating system.
Mr. Tucker is active in community and professional activities, and has served as legal counsel for the Tournament Players Championship, president and director of Jacksonville Legal Aid, and president and director of the Jacksonville Speech and Hearing Center. He is active in the Jacksonville Bar Association and a member of the Jacksonville Chapter of the American Inns of Court. He has authored articles and spoken on a wide variety of legal issues to business and professional groups.
Mr. Tucker is a graduate of Duke University (J.D., with distinction, 1982) and of the University of Notre Dame (B.B.A., accounting, summa cum laude, 1979). Upon graduation from law school, he served a judicial clerkship with the Hon. Gerald B. Tjoflat, U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
A member of The Florida Bar, Mr. Tucker's practice admissions also include the U.S. District Court for the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida, the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is also a member of the Federal Bar Association.
Mr. Tucker was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2011 edition of Best Lawyers in America® for his commercial litigation work and in the 2012 edition for his commercial and construction-real estate work. He has also been recognized as one of Florida's Legal Elite™ by Florida Trend magazine and selected for inclusion in the Florida Super Lawyer® lists (2006, 2010, and 2011).
