Ben's practice focuses on assisting lenders and business clients in solving issues that may arise in transactions and litigation. His 15 years of experience working as vice president and general counsel for an affiliated group of real estate and construction companies, together with his training in public accounting, provide him with a unique perspective with regard to problem solving. Ben practices in the firms Banking and Real Estate section, but because of his unique experience, he often works together with attorneys in the Firm's Corporate, Creditor's Rights, and General Litigation Practice Groups.
Ben has represented commercial lenders in both real estate and asset based lending transactions with regard to workouts, foreclosures, and collections work. Ben also assists lenders with resolving and disposing of REO assets. He has assisted lenders with their due diligence matters, maintaining entitlements, and ultimately with the disposition of the asset.
Ben's uses his experience in land acquisition, development, and construction of single family, multi family and condominiums, to assist clients in the development and construction areas, with all areas of their business, including: economic incentives; contract negotiation; due diligence; land use and entitlements; condominium and association issues; leasing and tenant issues; business financing transactions; and other business and corporate related matters.
Ben graduated from the University of Florida in 1985 with both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting. He began his career in the Atlanta office of Arthur Anderson where he acted as a staff accountant in the tax department. He returned to the University of Florida in 1987 to pursue his law degree, as well as the ever elusive SEC football championship. He received his J.D. with honors from the University of Florida College of Law, but had to leave without an official SEC title.
Ben is active in the community and is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth the Downtown Orlando Partnership. As a Eagle Scout, Ben is involved in Scouting and currently serves as Cubmaster of Pack 252 in Orlando. Ben spends his remaining free time with his wife Jeannine and four children.
