John B. Zaozirny, Q.C., is counsel in our Corporate Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions Group in Calgary and Vancouver.
Prior to joining McCarthy Tétrault, Mr. Zaozirny served as the Alberta Minister of Energy and Natural Resources from 1982 to 1986. He was named Resource Man of the Year by the Alberta Chamber of Commerce in 1985 and received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Alumni Association of the University of Calgary in 1987.
Mr. Zaozirny is also a director of and advisor to a number of public and private companies, and is the vice chairman of Canaccord Capital Corporation. He is also a Governor of the business Council of British Columbia.
He is a member of the Calgary Golf and Country Club, The Glencoe Club (Calgary), the Arbutus Club and the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club (Vancouver).
Mr. Zaozirny completed his Bachelor of Law at the University of British Columbia in 1972 and his Master of Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London in 1973.
