John's practice focuses on representing clients in the development, construction, financing and acquisition of energy projects across the country, involving both traditional and renewable energy sources. Moreover, he has represented Kansas City-based companies in many of the last decade's most significant real estate development projects. John has counseled clients through the structuring, negotiation and implementation of public and private transactions valued in excess of $5 billion in energy, municipal and private finance and development, leasing, construction and other sectors.

· Represented Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. in the $888 million acquisition, joint venture and tax equity financing of wind power facilities totaling 480 megawatts in Illinois, Iowa, Pennsylvania and Texas
· Represented the lenders on the term financing of a 200-megawatt wind project in eastern Nebraska
· Advised Duke Energy with respect to the acquisition of the 131-megawatt (Cimarron II) wind project in southwestern Kansas
· Represented the developer of a 100-megawatt wind project in central Kansas
· Counsel for the lenders on the construction and term financing of a $240 million, 150-megawatt wind project in Missouri
· Represented the investor in a $145 million tax equity investment for a 60-megawatt wind project in Nebraska and Kansas
· Represented the purchaser of a 100-megawatt wind project in Kansas
· Advised J.E. Dunn Construction Co. in the development and construction of $65 million headquarters in downtown Kansas City, Mo.
· Represented Quintiles Transnational Corp. in site selection and financing of $50 million Phase I Research Facility in Overland Park, Kan.
· Counsel for H&R Block Inc. in site selection, financing and public incentives for $250 million corporate headquarters development in Kansas City's downtown entertainment district
· Represented President Hotel in historic and Brownfield tax credits for $80 million redevelopment project in downtown Kansas City
· Advised the $325 million New Longview historic preservation project in tax increment financing (TIF) and transportation development district (TDD) in Lee's Summit, Mo.
· Represented the $35 million Cornerstone Apartments TIF project in Independence, Mo.
· Counsel for Marcus Hotels Inc. in the redevelopment of the historic Hotel Phillips in downtown Kansas City
· Counsel for $12 million construction project involving the formation and maintenance of the Country Club Plaza TDD
